The Hidden Witchcraft in the Church

Witches in the church are not always the ones you imagine. They say “Jesus.” They sing “Hallelujah.” They say “Amen.” They sit in the pews, they are part of the prayer team, and some even lead worship. Yet above them are those who teach, preach, and stand in positions of leadership, people who operate in manipulation and control while calling it authority and covering.
Galatians 3:1 (AMP) says, “O you foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you that you would act like this?” Paul was not speaking of witches casting spells with potions; he was addressing spiritual deception within the body of Christ. Witchcraft does not always come in dark robes... sometimes, it comes in suits, dresses, and titles.
Manipulation and control are forms of witchcraft. 1 Samuel 15:23 (AMP) declares, “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft.” When you confront, correct, or expose this spirit, it often hides behind religious works. It points to accomplishments, years of service, or good deeds, deflecting from the real issue, an unrepentant, controlling heart.
They help, they serve, they give, pretending it is out of love and a servant’s heart. But deep down, it is often rooted in self-promotion, influence, and personal benefit. Some do it to see what they can gain, how they can be seen, praised, or positioned. Others say, “I do it for free because I love,” but quietly wait for a return or recognition. Their giving is a seed of manipulation, not love. Matthew 6:1 (AMP) warns, “Be careful not to do your good deeds publicly, to be seen by men.”
Some come with prophetic titles saying, “God sent me,” yet their words bring confusion, dependency, and fear. They will “prophesy” in ways that keep you attached to them instead of drawing you closer to God. They use fear to control decisions, saying things like, “God told me if you don’t do this, disaster will come.” That is not prophecy, it is witchcraft.
Matthew 7:15–16 (AMP) says, “Beware of false prophets, who come to you dressed as sheep, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruit.” A true prophet will point you to Christ, not to themselves. A true servant of God will release you into freedom, not hold you hostage to their approval.
In Acts 8, Simon the sorcerer believed and was baptized, but later tried to buy the power of the Holy Spirit. His heart revealed his true motive, he wanted spiritual power for self-gain. That same spirit is still at work today, in people who want the pulpit, the platform, or the spotlight, but not the cross.
We also see it in Numbers 16, when Korah and his followers rose against Moses, claiming they were “just as anointed.” They wanted authority without submission. They wanted position without purification. Their rebellion was not against Moses, but against God’s divine order.
In today’s church, witchcraft looks like manipulation disguised as mentorship, control masked as “spiritual covering,” and intimidation hidden under “protection.” It looks like leaders who isolate you from others “for your good,” or those who demand your loyalty more than your obedience to God. It looks like people using guilt, fear, and emotional pressure to make you move in their direction rather than God’s.
It looks like the person who gives you a gift, but uses it later as leverage. It sounds like, “After all I’ve done for you…” or “If it wasn’t for me, you wouldn’t be where you are.” Those are not words of love; they are words of control.
The Jezebel spirit uses charm to gain influence, emotions to manipulate, and religion to appear righteous. Jezebel prayed, fasted, and surrounded herself with prophets—but they were her prophets, not God’s. Revelation 2:20 (AMP) warns, “You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and she teaches and leads My servants astray.” Jezebel spirits still exist today, both male and female, operating under the same agenda to control the flow of God’s people and silence true voices of truth.
They use flattery, gifts, and emotional connection to draw you in. Then they plant seeds of doubt, criticism, or pride to pull you away from true covering. They will say, “You don’t need to listen to your pastor,” or “God told me you’re supposed to follow me.” That’s witchcraft—it divides and isolates, then dominates.
2 Corinthians 11:13–14 (AMP) says, “For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.”
True love does not control. True leadership does not manipulate. True covering does not cage those who are growing. The Holy Spirit brings conviction, not control. He leads through truth and grace, not guilt and pressure.
John 8:32 (AMP) says, “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” Truth exposes manipulation. Truth breaks witchcraft. Truth separates real from counterfeit.
God is raising a remnant that will no longer bow to control, manipulation, or false leadership. He is revealing the hidden agendas behind smiling faces and spiritual titles. The exposure you are seeing is not chaos, it is cleansing.
This is not a time to be blind. It is a time to discern. The greatest witches are not in covens. They are sitting comfortably in churches, using the name of Jesus as a mask to control His people. But the Spirit of the Lord is shining His light. He is uncovering false coverings, false prophets, and false humility.
Let the Spirit of God bring light to what has been hidden. Let truth break the chains of control. Let discernment sharpen your spirit. And let the church be purified once again.
